ABOUT HARPER

Learn a little more about me here - Harper Pictures interview on AntiBride

In 2019, I fell in to wedding photography, when a friend of a friend had a last minute cancellation. It was a wonderful discovery for me, when I realized I could earn a living by taking pictures, which is what I've always loved to do anyway. In high school I always had film cameras and disposables. In college, I studied Studio Art and played around in the darkroom, and I've basically carried one film camera or another at all times ever since! To this day, my favorite thing is getting a roll of film developed.

Being a wedding photographer combines my love of photography with the fun creative challenge of thinking quickly on your feet and deeply rewarding participation in the celebration of love between partners, friends and families. I really love getting to be quiet and observant on your day, fly- on-the-wall style, and getting to craft and compose colorful portraits of the characters in your life, and create natural, colorful, candid documentation. It's my actual dream job, and it's such an honor and joy to be a witness to all these special moments, from so close up.

I shoot both film and digital, as well as making Super 8 video. I focus on making natural photographs that feel like joyful and intimate documentation. I want to leave you with warm, colorful, natural & meaningful images of you & the people you love enjoying life.

I have been a film photographer for many years, documenting my own travels and experiences, and I made a documentary about alternative, sustainable ways of living on communes in modern USA as one half of an incredible project called Anima Rising with my best friend Jess Watkins (who also made my logo!)

When not working, you will find me playing guitar, making ceramics, listening to music, watching documentaries, Agnes Varda movies, or Seinfeld. I also enjoy road trips, kumquats, laundry on a line,

and hot fudge sundaes. Bucket list locations for a wedding include Scotland (where my family lives), France (again and again), California (Hello, Madonna Inn), and Maine.

Please feel free to reach out and contact me with anything you'd like to talk about!

I love to chat and would be so happy to hear from you.
